T & J Dixon #14 forward and J Dixon #14 reverse Pricking Irons two Pieces. This pair of 14 stitches per inch Pricking Irons are matched in slot size.
The T&J Dixon dates from the 19th century, well over 100 years old. I brushed some of the rust, used an acid rust remover & a quick buff to clean these irons up enough to get a strike. They will need a buffing to get them to release readily from the veg. These irons belonged to the late Mr Turner of Turner-Bridgar, who were saddlers and harness makers near London, by royal warrant to Queen Elizabeth II until he retired in the mid 1980's. Some of them are stamped with his initials, he worked at some stage for Champion and Wilton, in London who were also high end saddlers, by appointment to the Royal family, specializing in side saddles as well as saddles and harness.
